Latest protocols for crew changes in Jamaica:
- All crew members (on & off) have to apply for a travel authorization at least 48 hours before travel via https://www.visitjamaica.com/travelauthorization/
- All crew members (on & off) must log on to the Maritime Authority of Jamaica (MAJ) website https://drm.maritimejamaica.com/apply <https://drm.maritimejamaica.com/apply> and apply for a seafarers certificate at least 48 hrs prior to travel. (We recommend at least 72 hrs so the seafarer will have his document and don’t face being denied entry)
- The below information is required to complete the applications on both websites:
On signers:
Travel authorization
COVID-19 negative test (72 hrs or less)
Required for MAJ application
E tickets
Crew self-health declaration (see attached) and Temperature records for 14 days preceding application
Seafarers Employment Agreement (must be signed & dated)
Certificate of Competence / Proficiency
Master’s Declaration (stating that covid prevention plan is actioned on board and all crew are in good health. No signs and symptoms of Covid 19).
Copy of the vessel ‘s Covid-19 management plan
Crew member’s Home Address
Bio Page of Passport and Seaman’s book
Off Signers:
Travel authorization
Required for MAJ application
E-Tickets
Crew self-health declaration and 14 days Daily temperature logs
Master’s Declaration (stating that covid prevention plan is actioned on board and all crew are in good health. No signs and symptoms of Covid 19).

After the applications are completed:
1. A travel authorization certificate will be issued form the Visit Jamaica website.
2. A reference number will be issued to the email address provided to monitor the status of the application for embarking and disembarking from the Maritime Authority of Jamaica website. Once application is approved, a PDF certificate of approval will be sent to the email address provided. Please continue to track the processing via website once application is completed.
3. On signers are allowed to arrive early and wait at the hotel for the vessel. They will not be tested unless they display symptoms during the screening process. - Off signers are now allowed to stay in a hotel under strict quarantine orders from the Port Health department.
- Lannaman offers the service to complete the two applications for an additional fee for ease of transaction and monitoring base on the time difference.
